Product Overview

These lettercarving tools were created in collaboration between Auriou and Master Carver Chris Pye, who was extremely pleased the result! Auriou's blacksmiths at Forge de Saint Juery still create beautiful carving tools that are light and easy to work with.

The tools are fitted with attractive octagonal ash handles with tapered brass ferules.
There are now 14 tools in Chris Pye's range which is based on a specific font and size (see below).

    Double bevelled chisel (25mm)

    The steel is pretty good. The length is a little long for my taste, but it works well for convex surfaces. Do remember to work the edge bevels and profiles to your preferences, and it will work wonderful.

    Sturdy tools with excellent feel in my hand. I bought them for a large project done in white oak. They got a lot of use. Wish I could afford more than 3.

    Beautiful. These chisels are lighter and work more easily in the hand than any other chisel I have. They are specifically designed for carving, and after I conditioned them to my liking (Chris Pye videos walk you through the process), they cut cleanly, consistently and smoothly. These are the best in the marketplace. My grandchildren will thank me one day.

    Right tool for the right job

    It is always satisfying to have exactly the right tool for the craft. The lettering tools are no more and no less than what is required for letter carving. They do not constrain the skill of the user and are comfortable to use. They are well made and are likely to last a lifetime. Great product!

    I am new at wood carving; however, have been a professional calligrapher, glass and metal engraver for more than thirty years. I have always had the very best in tools for all of my work having purchased even the most rare of the tools made during the last 150 years to the most current tools on the market. I have found these tools to be everything that I hoped for and would ever want in lettering and creating my craft using wood as the medium. Congratulations on the best quality ever!

    Having purchsed them a few months back,I've only just managed to get a chance to use these wonderful tools....They're nearly too beautiful to use but I bit the bullet...they're fabulous... razor sharp and easy to use. Thanks to all involved in their manufacture, I'm over the moon.
